Pre-Operative Physiotherapy

We can provide information before orthopaedic surgery so you have a full understanding of what to expect and how to best prepare for surgery. A short pre-operative program puts you in the best possible shape for surgery and has been shown to accelerate recovery.

Post-Operative Physiotherapy

We will advise you on how and when you can return to normal activities including sport. You will be given an exercise programme designed to guide you back to your pre-operative activity. Guidance on braces, slings or walking aids will be given according to your surgeon’s instruction.

Sports Injuries

Our therapist aim to rehabilitate your injury as quickly and effectively as possible and ensure your early return to exercise and sport. Sports injuries can be caused by direct impact or as a result of a sudden event such as twisting and ankle or knee. A chronic injury can occur over a period of time by overusing the same joints or muscle groups. Weakness, stiffness, hypermobility or biomechanical issues can also lead to abnormal movement patterns, overload and injury. Our physiotherapist can assess your movement to determine any structural or pattern abnormality. Based on the findings, make a possible diagnosis or refer your for further investigations

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners insert fine sterile needles into the skin to treat health problems. The needles may be manipulated manually or stimulated with small electrical currents (electroacupuncture). It is commonly used for pain such as back or neck pain, sciatica or osteo-arthritis. In the physiotherapy setting we will use this in combination with other modalities, advice and guided exercises depending on your condition and individual needs

Bounce Back Classes

These classes are especially designed for people with chronic lower back/hip or neck/shoulder problems. These classes runs for an eight week period only

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy or extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is an innovative, cost-effective, evidence based treatment for resistant tendon pain (often known as tendinitis or tendinopathy). Extracorporeal means outside the body. The main benefit of shockwave are pain relief and restoration of function in certain conditions. Shockwave therapy is a safe non-invasive treatment with convincing evidence for its effectiveness from a large body of research and clinical trials. There are now multiple, randomised, double-blinded clinical trials that support the use of shockwave therapy for plantar fasciitis, lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) and calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder. At our clinic we use a radial shockwave device which deliver acoustic energy through the skin to the injured part of the body. The shockwaves are mechanical and not electrical and work by increasing blood flow to the injured area, which accelerates the body’s healing process. The ESWT application lasts about 5 minutes to deliver and the research encourage 3-6 session depending on your chronicity.
